Special E-Prescribing Resource for Practices: GetRxConnected The Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 contains incentives to encourage the adoption of electronic prescribing (e-prescribing) technology by health care practitioners. To take advantage of these incentives, the ACC, leading medical societies and the Center for Improving Medication Management have collaborated to develop a special resource site — www.GetRxConnected.com — to help practices assess their e-prescribing readiness. The site contains an “E-Prescribing Readiness Assessment” that can determine if a practice’s electronic medical record or prescribing technology is compatible with the NCPDP SCRIPT standard and thus able to send prescriptions to pharmacies electronically, not by fax. In addition, the site contains a free guide and other resources detailing how to best adopt and implement e-prescribing technology.
